Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton's Driver Bio

Starting as the fresh faced boy hero Lewis Hamilton’s arrival in Formula One saw him thrown straight to the deep end. With 2 wins and 7 podiums from his first 9 races Lewis looked unstoppable.

Lewis’s aggressive style and willingness to fight for a position has seen him out master some of the greats in his time not least of which his team mate in 2007 Fernando Alonso.

After his first year missing the championship by a single point Lewis went on to take the championship on the final corner of the Brazillian Grand Prix in 2008.

After 6 seasons under the McLaren banner Hamilton moved to the regenerated Mercedes works team. With the car peaking in the early part of the season Hamilton struggled to get suited to the car before eventually taking control in the latter half of the year.

2014 saw contrasting fortunes as the car proved to be the most dominant car in F1 history with only his friend and team-mate Nico Rosberg proving to be closest rival. With 11 wins to his name Lewis held on to take his second World Championship.

A switch to the struggling Mercedes team seems perfectly timed as McLaren plunge into the midfield and Mercedes rise up as the fastest car in the first half of the season. A tire blowout ruins a chance at victory at the Silverstone Grand Prix.

2012 Season

4 Wins

Lewis Hamilton's season is mixed with speed and uncertainty. With poor unreliability stopping him short on several occasions. With 6 pole positions only converting to 3 wins he's been either flying or falling.

2011 Season

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes

3 Wins

A bad year for Lewis with visits to the stewards on most race meetings and a string of incidents with Ferrari's Felipe Massa. Despite this Lewis managed to finish short of the podium at many of the races due to the McLaren's underlying pace. For the first time in his F1 career Lewis was beaten by his team-mate Jenson Button.

2010 Season

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes

Outclassed by the dominant Red Bull of Sebastian Vettel, Lewis was held back against some bad team decisions and blunders. With a brief look in on the title the McLaren eventually faded away

2008 Season

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes World Champion

5 Wins

With a dominant first race in Australia it looked to be clear that the McLaren was to dominate but a drop in form shortly after forced Hamilton take the fight to the Ferrari's. 4 wins in the mid season and a season long battle with the Ferrari of Felipe Massa went down to the wire with the final winner being decided on the final corner of the final race. Lewis won the championship by a single point.

2007 Season

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes

4 Wins

With only 5 races off the podium Hamilton's debut season was remarkable. Beating team-mate Fernando Alonso both on the track as well as off the track in a near brutal clash of personalities. Lewis was calm and controlled when Fernando went to extreme lengths to try to hold the Brit back. Lewis eventually finished only 1 point short of the drivers world championship.
