Jean-Eric Vergne's Driver Bio

A graduate of the Red Bull driver programme, Vergne took a race seat alongside fellow rookie Daniel Ricciardo at Toro Rosso.

After three seasons under his belt at Toro Rosso, Vergne fell foul of one of the most ruthless young driver programs in motorsport. Vergne was replaced by fellow RBR junior Max Verstappen.

With a third season at Toro Rosso under his belt, Vergne fought for a Red Bull seat against RBR prodigy Daniil Kvyat. Despite some impressively aggressive end of season performances Vergne lost his seat in favour of Max Verstappen.

A second season battling rival and team-mate Daniel Ricciardo. After Webber announces his retirement from F1 the competition gets fierce. Despite Vergne's better race finishes in an unreliable car Red Bull eventually choose the qualifying pace of Daniel Ricciardo for the seat.

A season long battle commenced with the end goal of Mark Webber's Red Bull race seat. The competition was tight and each drivers season had it's merits. Vergne's qualifying was generally behind team-mate Ricciardo but race pace was generally quicker.
